Peru’s Presidential debate confirmed for March 13

Peru’s presidential debate will be held March 13, the National Election Board (JNE) confirmed on Tuesday.

Presidential candidates and their campaign teams agreed to hold the debate at the Peruvian Medical College, daily La Republica reported.

The debate will be held less than a month before Peruvians go to the polls to elect a new president on April 10.

Leading opinion polls for Peru’s highest office is ex-President Alejandro Toledo, followed by Congresswoman Keiko Fujimori and former mayor of Lima, Luis Castañeda.

Other candidates include the head of Peru’s Nationalist Party, Ollanta Humala, and former prime minister Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
