New Vice Minister of Tourism

Pablo Lopez de Romaña, former national director of tourism, has been appointed vice-minister of tourism in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism. He succeeds Eduardo Arrarte, who has resigned to return to the private sector. Lopez de Romaña, as also Arrarte, is a keen birdwatcher and has a particular interest in promoting Peru as a leading birdwatching destinaiton. He also has plans to strength safety for travelers and to developing visits to nature reserves within the national system of protected natural areas, Sinanpe. In the coming weeks, his office will be working with a specialized consulting firm to design a development plan for the vice-ministry as a whole.
