ONPE: receipts to be given for all contributions made to political parties or campaigns

All contributions made to political parties are to now be made public, and receipts must be issued for all cash contributions – no matter the amount, according to Peru’s National Office of Electoral Processes, ONPE.

“All contributions in cash will be issued a numbered and registered receipt, which clearly identifies the contributor’s full name and ID,” stated ONPE.

Prior to the reform, receipts were only issued to “qualifying campaign contributions” that exceeded the set minimum amount of 3,550 soles, or $1,183. All contributions below that amount went unmarked and unregistered, and the “unanimous” donors were not issued receipts.
