Attorney General Adelaida BolĂvar and three other prosecutors will be questioned by the National Magistrates Council, CNM, over their handling of two drug trafficking investigations, daily El Comercio reported. The CNM’s disciplinary commission, led by Francisco Delgado, will later rule on opening disciplinary procedures against BolĂvar and prosecutors Luis Muñoz, from Loreto Department, JosĂ© Luis Castillo, from Cajamarca Department, and MarĂa Milian, from Trujillo, capital of La Libertad Department.
According to the daily, the commission has summoned the attorney general to answer questions about her insistence that prosecutor Luz Loayza return to her post in the jungle city of Iquitos, Loreto Department, where she faces death threats from Peru’s jailed cocaine kingpin Fernando Zevallos. Muñoz has also been summoned in order to question his role in pressuring authorities to return Loayza to Iquitos.
The commission will also question BolĂvar about irregularities in cases brought against the Sánchez Paredes family, accused of using their businesses to launder decades-old profits from drug trafficking. Castillo and Milian will also be questioned about their relationship to the family enterprise, after Milian was reportedly seen traveling in a Sánchez Paredes-owned vehicle.
