Peruvian D.A.’s son lynched and burned alive by Juliaca residents

A local district attorney’s son was beaten and burned alive in Peru’s southern highland city of Juliaca by an angry vigilante mob who apparently mistook him for a local criminal.

Jack Briceño Ochoa, 27 — a medical student in Russia — died Sunday following a 10-hour attack , which left him with second and third degree burns over 80 percent of his body, daily Los Andes reported.

Local police is currently investigating the murder. Vigilante murders are common in the poorer districts of Juliaca and the provincial capital of Puno, where police presence is scarce.
