Olivia Newton-John finds “the one that she wants” and secretly marries in Peru

Singer, actress and four-time Grammy winner Olivia Newton-John, best known for her movies “Grease” and “Xanadu,” announced Thursday that she recently married, twice — the first time in a secret spiritual ceremony on a picturesque mountaintop in Peru’s jungle, and then in followup nuptials in Florida.

Details of the June 21 Peruvian ceremony and follow-up U.S. wedding were revealed in a brief statement on Newton-John’s official fan site.

After saying “I do” in Peru’s jungle, Newton-John, 59, and John Easterling, 56, headed back to the U.S. June 30 to legalize their union with a beachfront wedding on Jupiter Island, an exclusive barrier island on the coast of Martin and Palm Beach counties, Florida.

They kept the news quiet until a barbecue at Newton-John’s Malibu home July 4, where they surprised the gathering with their wedding announcement.

Easterling, 56, nicknamed “Amazon John,” is an Australian health guru and the millionaire founder and President of Amazon Herb Company, which sells botanical supplements, teas, as well as spa and wellness products extracted from the Amazon rainforest.

The couple met 15 years ago through mutual friends but only started dating a year ago.

“Our relationship was born out of our mutual love of healing,” Easterling said.

This is a second marriage for both Newton-John and Easterling.

In June 2005, Newton-John’s boyfriend of nine years, Patrick Kim McDermott, 48, vanished after he failed to return from an overnight fishing expedition off the coast of San Pedro, California. His body was never found.

Because McDermott was having financial troubles and was ordered to pay overdue child support payments to his ex-wife, actress Yvette Nipar, just before he disappeared, many believe that he staged his death.

There have been several alleged sightings of McDermott in the Baja California region of Mexico, and his case has been featured on America’s Most Wanted.

The singer also has a 22-year-old daughter, Chloe Rose, by Matt Lattanzi, whom she married in 1984 and later divorced in 1995.

Chloe, also a singer and actress, has had a highly public battle with anorexia nervosa.

Newton-John has won four Grammys and has a long list of hit pop songs from the 1970s and 1980s including “Physical” and “I Honestly Love You,” as well as from the 1978 movie “Grease” soundtrack: “You’re the One That I Want,” “Summer Nights” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You.”
