A. Maggiolo Dockyard Constructions S.A., a company dedicated to the restoration and construction of steel hull ships since 1942, will invest $15 million to renovate and expand an existing shipyard in Peru’s largest port of Callao, daily Peru21 reported.
The project, which will generate more than 600 jobs in its initial phase, will allow A. Maggiolo Dockyard Constructions S.A. to increase its ship repair and construction capacity. The company has bought a 50,000 square meter lot to expand its shipyard.
Many large ships – such as tuna ships – who currently must travel to Chile or Panama for repair, will be able to do so in Peru.
