Theater-filled streets in Peru’s capital, Lima

Peru will host the 8th International Street Theater Party, or Fiteca, during which actors, puppeteers and performers from a variety of South American and European countries will take to the streets to entertain local residents.

Approximately 200,000 people are expected to attend the festival, scheduled for May 1-7, 2009.

Peruvian theater troops set to perform include Yuyachkani, Pataclaun, Cuatro Tablas, Maguay, and, among others, Generarte. Other performers and theatre groups from Mexico, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Colombia, Costa Rica and Bolivia are expected to keep the crowds entertained throughout the week-long festivities.
