Two police officers killed in eastern province

Two police officers were killed Tuesday in a roadside ambush on their patrol vehicle in Peru’s eastern jungle.  Officer Wilfredo Otarola and Officer Jaime Ruiz were attacked during broad daylight on a road between Villa Rica, in Oxapampa Province and Puerto BermĂşdez, in Satipo. Mob attacks police station following death of local man

Some 2,000 people attacked a police station Tuesday night in the Andean town of Celendín, in Peru’s northern Cajamarca Department following the death of a 27-year-old man in police custody.
