Peru jungle riverboat capsize update

Authorities have updated the number of people who drowned after a riverboat capsized in the Tapiche River in the jungle district of Requena, in Loreto Department, to 23. Ten of the victims were reportedly under 15 years old. The accident is being blamed on stormy weather and an excessive weight on the boat. Original estimates said there were some 60 passengers on the boat, however local media has reported more than 120 people were onboard. Some 30 people are still missing.
