Central Bank issues new Nuevo Sol coin

The Central Bank has issued a new One Nuevo Sol coin, the fourth in a series on “riches and pride of Peru.”  The drawing of a Sillustani funeral tower or chullpa is on the obverse of the coin.  Previous issues include illustration of a golden Tumi or ceremonial knife, the sarcophagi of Karajía, and the Raimondi Stella. Ten million coins are being minted and collectors’ examples of the newly minted coin are available at the Central Bank offices in downtown Lima.  Previously minted coins will continue in circulation.
