Known as the Tren de Cercanías, the commuter and freight train service is to connect Lima to Cañete, Chincha and Ica, benefitting some 969,000 people and increasing transport options for the south coast’s established and burgeoning farming industry.

The Lima-Ica railway is one of a series of railway projects for commuter and freight trains promoted by this administration, under former President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski. The other Lima-based project to serve the coast is a 200 km rail connection between the capital and the north coast at Barranca.

The Lima-Ica railway is also to connect with the basic subway network being built in Lima and Callao, as well as the port terminals in Callao and Pisco.

  1. Left out the most important Nasca connection
A viable economic touristic city with a potential job industry service growth. A city such as Nasca starving for easy tourist accessibility.
